The Rivoni Trust is a registered not-for-profit Trust (Registration no. IT NO 709/2011) with the primary objective of providing information and education to underserved and marginalised communities in South Africa.

Our trustees comprise a group of like-minded individuals who are active in the field of human rights, justice and social development

  • Dilshad (Coco) Cachalia

    Director of Grounded Media and instrumental in leading the company to achieve its vision as a developmental and education communications company, Coco has also participated in several research projects, including a report for the World Bank on the role of non-governmental organisations in poverty alleviation in Africa.

  • Professor Leila Patel

    Professor of Social Development Studies and Director of the Centre for Social Development in Africa (CSDA), University of Johannesburg, Prof Patel was previously Head of the Department of Social Work, University of Johannesburg (2002 – 2007) and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (1998 –2002).

  • Audrey Elster

    As a director of the RAITH Foundation, an NPO providing funding and support for social justice – in particular the issue of equality and equitable access to resources – Audrey has been involved in the development sector for many years.

  • Anton Paul Harber

    Currently the Caxton Professor of Journalism and Media Studies and director of the Journalism Programme at the University of the Witwatersrand, Anton has had a long career in journalism, media management and the training of journalists.

  • Petros Gcinumuzi Malindi

    An established Silk working broadly in human rights, Petros is an ex Delmas Treason trialist.
