HIV and AIDS

The Rivoni Trust is a registered not-for-profit Trust (Registration no. IT NO 709/2011) with the primary objective of providing information and education to underserved and marginalised communities in South Africa.

Addressing the social drivers of HIV/AIDS

With support from the German government, The Nelson Mandela Foundation offered NGOs the opportunity to work with them to plan, implement and manage nationwide community dialogues aimed at providing a safe space for individuals, community organisations, government and faith based organisations to address the social drivers of HIV and AIDS.

The Rivoni Trust was commissioned for the project, based on our experience with stakeholder engagement and community mobilisation, and our capacity to successfully conduct dialogues in all 9 provinces through our own network of facilitators.

Nelson Mandela FoundationTraining
Our skills were further honed through training by the Nelson Mandela Foundation, on the Community Conversations methodology – aimed at enhancing a community's capacity to learn, transform and move forward in an inclusive manner for the benefit of all, regardless of different social, economic and political situations.

The dialogues are targeted at district and community level in communities that are under-served and that have reported high prevalence of HIV. The dialogues will be delivered over 3 years with on-going monitoring and evaluation to give direction and support.

A wide spectrum of issues that affect people on a day-to-day basis will be covered, including stigma, culture, lack of knowledge and other psycho-social challenges faced by these communities.
