Brothers for Life

The Rivoni Trust is a registered not-for-profit Trust (Registration no. IT NO 709/2011) with the primary objective of providing information and education to underserved and marginalised communities in South Africa.

Brothers for Life: National PMTCT community dialogues

Brothers for Life is a national campaign, targeting men aged 30 and above, which promotes HIV testing, male involvement in PMTCT (Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV) and men's health in general. The campaign highlights the risks associated with having multiple and concurrent sexual partners, and addresses issues of alcohol abuse and gender based violence. The vision is to improve the health and well being of South African families.

The Rivoni Trust has been commissioned to plan, coordinate and execute dialogues that concentrate specifically on male involvement in PMTCT. Women attendees are not excluded but they are not the key target for these specific dialogues.

The trust is working closely with communications organisation Kagiso TV & Communications, which has for the past 5 years conducted a community based project that focuses on male involvement of PMTCT. The purpose of this project (called You can count on me) is to start new conversations with men about sexual responsibility, HIV and AIDS, relationship-building and the prevention of transmission of HIV to unborn and small children.

The Rivoni Trust will conduct 30 community dialogues, reaching a minimum of 50 men per dialogue, in all 9 provinces.
